Bambooboys

MapleLegends · est. ~Aug 2015

The Bambooboys were a guild on MapleLegends, a pre-Big Bang MapleStory private server. Founded around August 2015, the guild became known for its energy, spam-heavy culture, and the legendary voice recordings of members shouting "BAMBOO BOYS!" in various styles.

I streamed back then too. Would love to find those old clips someday.

Guild Lore

"Even when you don't love Bamboo, Bamboo will love you." — BlackStealth, Guild Motto
"Bamboo is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated." — Inviper
"We live by our own rules, we play by our own rules. That makes us Bamboo." — Inviper
"The world is hard. Bamboo brings peace. Become one." — Losj
"Bamboo guide you, Spirit bless you." — Bamboo Genesis 420:69 (rogierR2)

The Bamboo PQ

BlackStealth designed a Party Quest concept for the guild (credited to Inviper for the idea). Set in the bamboo forests of Mu Lung, players would help a panda spirit animal find its way home. Completing it gave bamboo leaves that could be exchanged for the "Spirit of Bamboo" hat (+10 all stats, +200 HP/MP). It never made it into the game, but the concept art lives on.

What happened

The guild was most active from August to October 2015. NatteHond revived the thread in June 2017, and BlackStealth eventually asked Kenneth for guild leadership as members drifted away. BlackStealth's final word: "Rip BambooBoys we had a good run."

In August 2024, I posted a haiku to the thread after 7 years of silence:

"A sproutling in the soil. Bamboo, strong and deep rooted. Will rise above."

If you have screenshots, clips, or memories from this era, I'd love to hear from you.

This page will grow as I remember things. Check back sometime.
